How To Optimize Your Blog Post For Search Engine Traffic

Many bloggers believe they don’t need to SEO optimize their blog because they don’t understand how search engines work and how important it is for their blogs to rank high for their chosen keywords. Failing to capitalize on this free targeted traffic is one reason so many new bloggers don’t earn money online with their blog.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. It can be done in three easy steps. These three steps can increase browsers to your site which can make the difference between a blog that builds the blogger virtually no income or one that a blogger can quit their day job and make a full time living with.

Follow this advice to SEO optimize every blog article you write and start reaping the rewards of free search engine traffic.

For starters, you should make absolutely sure that your post url’s are search engine compatible. With a blog platform like Google’s Blogger blogs, this is automatically done for you. If you use WordPress, then you’ll need to set your url structure so that blog creates optimized url’s when you make a post.

To do this in WordPress is to click on the Permalinks tab, and click the radio button along side the Custom field. Then you’ll put a percentage sign followed by the words Postname. {Immediately after the words postname, Now} put another percent symbol. This makes sure your blog will have search engine optimized addresses.

The next tip on optimizing your blog is to put your main keywords in the Title. This is very important. Let’s say you’re blogging about how to earn extra cash, then use these keywords in the Title of your blog and your blog post. If your blog is about Dogs, then don’t use something unrelated like your name in the title unless you also have the word Dog in there also. If your name is John and you have a blog named Johns Dog Blog, then you’ll rank higher than if you name it Johns Blog.

You’re next step is to put your keywords in your Post’s title. If you’re trying to lure traffic to click on your post about online auctions to make money at home, then your post title should have those keywords in it. Not something like How I Make Money With Auctions. The search engines won’t know what your post is about and you can forget about getting free traffic. If you’re using Adsense to monetize your blog, this is a very important tip to get targeted traffic for high paying keywords.

If you’ll use these 3 easy to follow tips, you will be helping the Search Engines know what your post is about. When you make it easy for the search engines to understand what your post and blog are about, they’ll rank you higher in the Search Engine ranking pages.

Now the only thing you’ll need is to build links to your blog and blog post. But alas, there isn’t enough room here to go ito the details of link building. Learn how to optimize your blog and blog post first before taking on link building.
